Dr. Samih Guirguis is an independent principal specialist GP and Skin Cancer Doctor at KRS Health, with over 30 years of clinical experience.
He originally trained in Egypt as a specialist physician in cardiology before moving to Australia in 2003. He holds Master Degree in Science (MSc) in the field of Cardiology (2002) and has a strong interest in cardiovascular medicine.
After relocating to Australia, Dr. Guirguis completed his basic physician training at various Australian hospitals in Gosford and Sydney, including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPA), one of the country’s largest prestigious teaching hospitals. He later moved to Wagga Wagga, where he developed a passion for the diversity of general practice and retrained as a specialist GP, He later obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of GP (FRACGP) in 2008.
Dr. Guirguis has a particular passion for chronic disease management, including diabetes mellitus, respiratory conditions (such as asthma and COPD), obesity, and chronic orthopaedic disease, bringing wealth of clinical experience as a physician. He is also deeply committed to mental health, men’s, women’s, and paediatric health, and surgical procedures.
Understanding the critical health needs of the Australian community, He has undergone specialised training in skin cancer medicine and surgery through various training institutions. He is fully certified in skin cancer diagnosis and treatments, holding a Diploma in Dermoscopy from Skin Cancer College Australasia (2014), GCert Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine, Advanced Certificate and Diploma in Skin Cancer Surgery .. Dr Samih is highly skilled in performing both simple and advanced skin surgical procedures, including skin excisions, biopsies, skin grafts and simple flaps.
Dr. Samih has interest in teaching the future generation of Doctors. He is a Conjoint Lecturer at UNSW Medicine and an accredited GP supervisor with the RACGP, mentoring registrars undertaking GP training through fellowship programs such as AGPT, RVTS, and FSP. In recognition of his dedication and commitment to GP training, he received the GP Supervisor Award from GP Supervisors Australia (GPSA) in 2022.
